My Father Cigars: Brand Story

Cigario editorial

Father and son García — Estelí masters and the Cigar of the Year Flor de las Antillas.

Brand history

My Father Cigars is the family work of José "Pepín" García and his son Jaime — two Cuban master rollers who became legends of Estelí in Nicaragua. Jaime named the brand in honour of his father. In just a few years it released several award-winning cigars of the highest class.

Origins

Pepín García learned his craft in Cuba and became famous for his unmistakable, precise rolling. After arriving in the US and Nicaragua he first rolled for other brands before building his own factory in Estelí and launching My Father in 2008.

History

The Flor de las Antillas was named Cigar of the Year in 2012, catapulting the brand to the top. Flagships also include Le Bijou 1922 and My Father — and the García family also makes brands such as La Aroma de Cuba and San Cristóbal for Ashton.

How & where it’s made

Everything is made at the family factory in Estelí, mostly from Nicaraguan tobacco often complemented by leaves the family grows. The Garcías are known for their Cuban rolling style and eye for detail.

Style

My Father is typically full and rich, with notes of coffee, cocoa, leather and pepper, yet keeps its elegance and balance. It is a cigar for those who like strength with class.

Did you know

Pepín García is regarded as one of the finest torcedores of his generation — his name on the box is a mark of quality in itself. The family keeps the whole chain from growing to rolling firmly in its own hands.
