H. Upmann

A classic Cuban name with a lighter-bodied tradition.

Brand story

H. Upmann takes its name from Hermann Upmann, a German banker who settled in Havana in 1844 and established both a bank and a cigar factory there. The bank closed, but the cigar brand endured. Habanos describes its Cuban blend as light to medium in strength, made with tobacco from Vuelta Abajo. Cigario catalog records include Magnum 46, No. 2, and Connoisseur No. 1, each with its own size and presentation.

Havana origins

The brand's story begins in 1844, when Hermann Upmann founded a bank and a cigar factory in Havana. The cigar name outlived the banking business.

The Cuban blend

Habanos cites Vuelta Abajo tobacco and light-to-medium strength. The individual vitola remains important for dimensions and the resulting experience.
